One of the most unforgettable experiences of my journey was my first encounter with the enchanting Dal Lake. As I approached the lake, I was taken aback by its sheer beauty and the vibrant life that thrived on its waters. It was unlike anything I had ever seen before.
The lake was a bustling hub of activity, with houseboats, shikaras, and floating markets creating a lively and colorful scene. I was amazed to see that everything I needed was available on the water. There were shops, restaurants, hotels, and even hawkers, all operating from boats. It was a unique and surreal experience to see this floating world come to life.
I took a shikara ride, gliding smoothly over the calm waters of the lake. The boatman navigated through the narrow channels, taking me past beautiful houseboats adorned with intricate woodwork and vibrant flowers. The reflections of the surrounding mountains and the clear blue sky on the water’s surface created a mesmerizing and tranquil atmosphere.
Nearby, the Mughal Gardens, such as Shalimar Bagh and Nishat Bagh, offered a serene escape with their meticulously manicured lawns and stunning views of the lake. The Shankaracharya Temple, perched on a hilltop, provided a panoramic view of Srinagar and the surrounding valley.

The experience of Dal Lake was a highlight of my journey, a reminder of the incredible diversity and richness of Kashmir’s culture and landscape. It was a place where time seemed to stand still, allowing me to fully immerse myself in the beauty and tranquility of the moment
